Alcove shelving units suit living rooms in period homes, townhouses and boutique hotels where recesses beside a chimney breast or column are otherwise wasted. They are not suitable for shipping before accurate site measurements, because alcoves are rarely square and each one differs. Before ordering, confirm alcove width at several heights, depth, ceiling height, skirting and cornice details, socket positions and shelf loads.

Arcova builds alcove shelving units from site measurements with scribe allowances, CNC-cut parts and finish sample approval. Units are labelled left and right for each room and shipped with installation guidance so local fitters can scribe them tightly.

How do you fit alcoves that are not square?

Alcove walls are often out of plumb. We add scribe fillers on both sides so the installer can trim them to the wall line. Send width measurements at floor, mid and top height plus depth at both sides, so fillers are sized correctly.

Should shelves be fixed or adjustable?

Fixed shelves add stiffness and allow concealed fixings for a floating look. Adjustable shelves suit changing displays and books. For wide alcoves holding books, fixed or supported shelves reduce sagging. Many designs combine a few fixed shelves with adjustable ones.

Can the lower cupboard hide media equipment?

Yes. Lower cupboards can hold routers, speakers or games consoles with cable holes and ventilation. Infrared remotes may need glazed or slatted doors or a repeater. Plan socket positions inside the cupboard before production.

Is painting done in the factory?

Yes. Factory lacquer gives a more even finish than site painting. Installers may need small touch-ups after scribing and fixing, so we can supply matched touch-up paint. Approve the color sample under your room lighting.
