A floating wall shelf system suits living rooms, home offices, hotel rooms and retail areas where a light, open look is needed without visible brackets. It is not suitable for plasterboard walls without reinforcement, or for heavy book collections on long spans, where a shelf with uprights or a bookcase is safer. Before ordering, confirm wall construction, intended load per shelf, shelf length and depth, finish, and whether wiring for lighting must be hidden in the shelf.

How much weight can a floating shelf hold?

The load depends on the wall, bracket, shelf depth and length, not only on the shelf itself. Deep shelves on hollow walls hold the least. Tell us what will be displayed, such as books or decor, and the wall type. We then advise bracket type and spacing, and mark any load limits on drawings.

Can floating shelves be fitted on drywall?

Only if timber or metal blocking is installed inside the wall before boarding, aligned with bracket positions. Hollow wall anchors alone are not reliable for concealed brackets. For renovation projects without blocking, a backing panel fixed to studs can spread the load across several points.

How do you hide LED wiring?

A groove is machined under the shelf for the LED profile, and cables run through a channel to the bracket position and into the wall. The driver sits in a base cabinet or ceiling void. Coordinate cable exit points with the electrician before the wall is finished.

Why do some shelves sag or tilt after installation?

Sagging usually comes from long spans, overloading or brackets not fully inserted. Tilting comes from holes drilled off level. Using our fixing template, checking level before fully tightening and allowing a slight upward set on long shelves keeps them straight in daily use.
