It is not suitable when existing openings are irregular and cannot be surveyed accurately, or for tight budgets, since curved frames and doors need more machining than standard flat-top doors. Before ordering, confirm opening width and height, arch type and rise, wall thickness, swing direction, glass requirement and hardware.

How should arched openings be measured?

Measure the width at the spring line, the total height and the arch rise, or provide a full-size template of the curve. Irregular site arches are best traced on paper or board. Accurate templates avoid gaps between frame and wall.

Can arched doors be fire rated?

Fire-rated doors must match tested constructions, and curved designs may not be covered by standard tests. Whether a rating can be provided is confirmed per market and design. Confirm requirements before selecting arched doors for rated openings.

Does the door need to be arched, or only the frame?

Options include a fully arched door within an arched frame, or a rectangular door with an arched fixed transom above. The transom option is easier to hang and usually more economical. We can show both on drawings.

How are arched door sets installed?

Frames are fixed and shimmed so the curve sits evenly to the wall, then the door is hung and adjusted. Doors arrive pre-machined for hinges and locks. Installers should handle curved parts carefully to avoid damaging edges.
