How high should the tatami platform be?

Higher platforms give deeper storage but reduce headroom and make stepping up harder. Lower platforms are easier for children and older users. We balance height against ceiling height, desk position and storage needs on drawings, and 3D views help you judge the result before approval.

Should we choose natural or synthetic tatami?

Natural rush mats feel and smell authentic but need humidity control and care. Synthetic mats resist mold, stains and wear, making them better for humid climates, rentals and kids rooms. We can supply either or leave the platform ready for mats sourced locally.

Can the platform be used as a bed?

Yes, with a futon or thin mattress on top. Confirm the sleeping area size so storage hatches do not sit under the mattress where they are hard to open. Leave ventilation gaps, because moisture can collect under mattresses on solid platforms.

Is a lifting table worth it?

A lifting table rises from the platform for tea, study or games and lowers flush when not used, keeping the room open. It adds cost and electric versions need power routed into the platform. Manual or fixed tables are simpler alternatives for tighter budgets.
