Does a pivot door need special floor preparation?

Yes. Most hydraulic floor pivots need a recessed box set into the screed before the final floor is laid, and the head or ceiling must support the top pivot. Plan this early with your contractor and send floor build-up details so we prepare the leaf for the correct hardware.

Will a large wooden door warp?

Tall, wide doors can bow if construction is unbalanced or humidity changes. We use engineered cores with matched faces on both sides to reduce movement. Install after wet trades finish, keep indoor humidity stable and avoid direct sun or heating on one face only.

Should the pivot be center or offset?

Center pivots split the opening into two passages, which looks dramatic but reduces clear walking width. Offset pivots give a wider clear opening and swing more like a hinged door. Choose based on how often the door is used and how much traffic passes through.

Do pivot doors seal well?

Pivot doors usually have larger perimeter gaps than hinged doors, so sound and draught sealing is lower. Brush or automatic drop seals improve performance but will not match a dedicated acoustic door. For bedrooms or meeting rooms needing privacy, discuss sealing options before finalizing the design.
