How much wall space does a barn door need?

The door slides along the wall, so you need clear wall at least as wide as the door beside the opening, free of switches, sockets and frames. Send the elevation showing switches and we will check the track length and stopper positions.

Does the wall need reinforcement?

Yes. The track carries the door's full weight, so it must be fixed into solid masonry or a header board fixed to studs. Lightweight partitions need blocking. The door weight limit for each track is confirmed at quotation by the hardware chosen.

Can a barn door give privacy for a bathroom?

It can be locked with a hook or latch, but gaps around the door mean less sound and smell control than a hinged door. For guest bathrooms in hotels, a pocket door or hinged door may be a better choice.

How is the door installed?

Installers fix the track or header, hang the door on the rollers, then install the floor guide and stoppers. The door should be level and clear the floor evenly. We supply drilling templates and installation guidance with each set.
