A double French door suits wide openings between living rooms, dining rooms, studies and hotel suite lounges where light should pass between spaces while still allowing separation. It is not suitable where acoustic privacy or fire rating is critical unless a specific tested door is specified, or where the door swing would block furniture. Before ordering, confirm structural opening size, wall thickness, swing direction, glass type, glazing bar pattern, lock function and whether both leaves open or one is fixed.

Should both leaves open or one stay fixed?

Most double French doors have one active leaf with a lock and one fixed leaf held by flush bolts, which can be released when the full opening is needed. Both leaves opening freely suits wide traffic routes. Decide based on daily use and furniture layout before hardware is ordered.

What glass should we choose for interior French doors?

Safety glass is expected in most markets for door glazing. Clear glass maximizes light, frosted or reeded glass adds privacy for studies and bathrooms nearby. Divided lites with real or applied bars change the style. Confirm local safety requirements and we will specify the glass to suit.

Will the doors warp in humid climates?

Engineered cores with veneer or lacquer are more stable than solid wood leaves, especially in tall doors. Finishing all faces and edges evenly also limits movement. Doors should be stored flat and installed only after wet trades are finished and the building is closed and dry.

How should openings be prepared?

Openings must be plumb, square and sized to the drawings, with wall thickness confirmed so frames and architraves fit. Floors should be finished or level heights known so the bottom gap is correct. We supply frames as kits with installation guidance and 24-hour online technical support.
